Enhancing the Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation of Nutrition

A fundamental approach to reduce poverty worldwide is to assure the availability of sufficient food that is both palatable and nutritious. The combination of these is referred to as food security. Central to this concept is the enhancement of the nutritional status of children and women of reproductive age.

Our research program at McGill University is primarily focused on augmenting diet diversity, food quality and food safety. To achieve this, we study how these factors are related to food production and food processing. Our current project is funded by IFAD. The main thrust of this project is to investigate how policy designers and managers create and carry-out nutrition-sensitive projects with as ultimate objective the improvement of diet quality and diversity indicators.
